Tim Smith
President and Co-Founder
Tim Smith co-founded BIG-SF in June 2000, while a principal at The Stencil Group. Tim founded The Stencil Group in early 1999 for the purpose of building a consulting organization that focuses on delivering marketing strategies to help businesses succeed online. Since that time he has developed and implemented internet business strategies for such businesses as: EoExchange, Indus International, MobShop, Moreover.com, Net Market Makers, Topica, and Webb Interactive Services.
Prior to founding Stencil, Tim was the founder and head of NRW Interactive, the interactive communications practice at Niehaus Ryan Wong Public Relations. Having founded NRW Interactive in April 1996, Tim was one of the earlier pioneers of interactive communications strategies and tactics. During his tenure at NRW Interactive, Tim brought over fifteen unique products to market in the areas of new media relations, business intelligence, interactive marketing, and online community development. In many cases, Tim invented services that are now routinely adopted by public relations agencies.
Tim is a regular on the Internet Marketing speaking circuit. Most recently, Tim has moderated a B2B panels for LinkShare's February 2000 conference, and moderated a panel discussion regarding the role of content in a B2B environment at Net Market Maker's conference - groundzero2.

Bill Robins
Vice President and Co-Founder
Bill Robins is partner in The Stencil Group. He has shaped the firm's web services research and consulting practice and become a leading voice in this nascent market. He has developed strategies to capitalize upon XML and web services concepts (if not called that at the time) within the enterprise for over two years.
Bill's experience working with software and Internet companies, including a great number of start-ups spans several years. His expertise lies in marketing, business development, and understanding the needs of the end customer. Bill has led or contributed to consulting engagements with a number of companies, including First USA, GE, Microsoft, Reed Elsevier, Everest Ecommerce, Vividence, SeeRun, and Crosspoint Venture Partners, among others.
Prior to joining The Stencil Group, Bill worked at iXL for nearly three years, where he was a founding member of iXL's strategy practice. During this time, Bill developed business plans for Internet-based companies and e-commerce strategies for more established corporations. Before iXL, Bill worked at BigBook, a venture-backed, Internet consumer, yellow pages site and in management at Caribou Coffee, a Starbucks competitor (or knock-off).
While not chasing the new economy (where did it go anyway?) and emerging technologies, Bill is pursuing qualification for the Boston Marathon. The next shot is the Chicago Marathon in October. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Kendra, and their two cats.

Brent Sleeper
Vice President and Co-Founder
Brent Sleeper is partner in The Stencil Group. He uses his professional consulting expertise, practical working knowledge, and dedication to client satisfaction to help fast-moving companies establish and grow their businesses. Brent has shaped the firm's web services research and consulting practice. As a leading independent expert on this emerging market, he is the author of several articles and frequently speaks at industry events.
Brent has more than seven years professional experience helping clients make practical sense of the business opportunities created by Internet-based technologies. He has led and contributed to consulting engagements with a range of established and entrepreneurial businesses, including Compaq Computer Corp., OAG, GE Global Exchange Services, Everest Ecommerce, Crosspoint Venture Partners, First USA Bank, and others.
Before joining The Stencil Group, Brent was a founding member of iXL's strategy practice and most recently served as director of marketing strategy. Previously, as a senior consultant with NetResponse, he helped develop an industry-leading consulting methodology and led the expansion of the company's operation from Washington, DC, to San Francisco. Ned Lawton
VP of Business Developments
Ned Lawton is responsible for a business development activities for BIG-SF. His responsibilities include finding sponsors and partners that further BIG-SF objectives. He also responsible for helping to identify and qualify prospective topics and speakers.
Ned is currently responsible for all business development activities for an emerging information technology firm Artizen, Inc. Prior to Artizen, Ned has been instrumental in various start-up technology firms helping to build delivery capabilities as well as jump-start sales for the organizations.
